France Extradites Accused Credit Card Swindler to US

The U.S. Justice Department says an alleged international credit card trafficker has been deported from France to the United States to face criminal charges.

Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer said in a statement Friday that 27-year-old Vladislav Anatolievich Horohorin, also known as “BadB” of Moscow, is suspected of being one of the most prolific sellers of stolen credit card data in the world.

Horohorin made his first appearance in U.S. District Court in Washington Thursday. He was extradited to the U.S. June 6 and arraigned the next day. He was ordered detained pending trial.

Authorities allege Horohorin, who is a citizen of Israel, Russia and Ukraine, used online criminal forums such as “CarderPlanet” and “carder.su” to sell stolen credit card information to online purchasers around the world. A federal grand jury in Washington indicted Horohorin in November 2009 on charges of access device fraud and aggravated identity theft.

Elsewhere, a grand jury in Georgia indicted him in August 2010 on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud and access device fraud.

If convicted, Horohorin faces 10 years in prison on each access device fraud charge, 20 years in prison for each conspiracy and wire fraud charge, and a consecutive penalty of two years behind bars for the aggravated identity theft count.
